A beautiful, handmade Set Shiboridashi by master Hozan from Shigaraki (Shiga Prefecture). Master Hozan is a second generation potter and runs his studio together with his son.
One of the Six Ancient Kilns or Rokkoyō (六古窯) of Japan, at the beginning of the 16th century the rustic aesthetics of Shigaraki-yaki was much admired within the tea ceremony, and today maintains a reputation for sturdy utilitarian objects.
Typically for Shigaraki the Shiboridashi has more slits than a normal one and therefore even fine teas such as Fukamushi (deep steamed) can be brewed without any problems.
Each piece is individually made and differs slightly.
