For sale, rare group of three press photographs depicting Yiddish theatre actor Pesach Gutmark, taken in Munich, Germany, around 1948, during the early post-World War II period of the Jewish Displaced Persons community. These portrait and stage photographs document the revival of Yiddish cultural life among Holocaust survivors in Germany after the war. The photos were produced by a Munich press photography agency, stamped on the reverse “GRIMM (Bayer. Pressebild)” and “Bayerische Bildorersellschaft m.b.H., München. Each photograph is personally dedicated in Yiddish by the actor Pesach Gutmark. The images show theatrical portrait typical of late-1940s European theatre publicity photography, with strong lighting and expressive composition. The photographs measure approximately 16.5x11.5cm ~6.5x4.5 inch. Good condition.
