In daylight, this Sterling Hill specimen shows a bright white calcite matrix generously studded with lustrous black franklinite crystals and scattered pale willemite grains. The clean white host and sharp dark crystals give the piece unusually crisp daylight contrast for the locality.Under shortwave, the calcite floods the entire surface with vivid red-orange while bright electric green willemite grains scatter across it in dense clusters, the black franklinite crystals holding their shape as sharp dark accents throughout. Under longwave the calcite shifts to a hot pink-red and the willemite grains stay a bright yellow-green, keeping the two-color contrast strong at both wavelengths.
