Offered here is the original published Page 1 artwork from DC Comics\' Batman: Gotham Adventures #36, featuring an absolutely fantastic, nearly full-page image of Superman.
The page was penciled by Tim Levins and inked by Terry Beatty, the credited art team for the issue. Batman: Gotham Adventures #36 was written by Scott Peterson and published by DC Comics.
This is the actual original hand-drawn production artwork used to create the published comic.
It is NOT a print, reproduction, photocopy or recreation.
And it\'s a killer Superman page.
Superman occupies almost the entire original art board, seated in a massive chair with his face completely visible and the famous \"S\" shield prominently displayed across his chest.
His dialogue?
\"HELLO.\"
Apparently when you\'re Superman, you don\'t need a monologue.
A GREAT SUPERMAN DISPLAY PAGE
There are comic pages that are desirable because something historically important happens on them.
There are pages that are desirable because they\'re from an important issue.
And then there are pages that are simply damn good images of the character.
This is one of those.
If I were looking for a single piece of original Superman artwork to frame, this is exactly the kind of page I\'d want.
You get:
Superman front and center.
Nearly full body.
Clear face.
Huge \"S\" shield.
Almost the entire page devoted to him.
And it\'s PAGE ONE of the published comic.
This isn\'t one of those Superman pages where you\'re paying for a tiny Superman head in panel five.
Superman IS the page.
TIM LEVINS & TERRY BEATTY
Tim Levins became closely associated with the animated-style Batman comics through his extensive work on Batman: Gotham Adventures. His wonderfully clean and expressive drawing style was an excellent fit for the visual language established by the Warner Bros. animated Batman universe.
The finished inks on this page are by Terry Beatty, another artist strongly associated with this period of DC\'s animated-style comics.
Together, Levins and Beatty produced that beautifully clean, graphic style that makes these pages particularly good for display.
This isn\'t simply an original drawing of Superman.
It\'s a published Superman page by the credited art team from an actual DC Comics issue, still on its original DC production board.

Personally, that\'s something I love about original comic art.

This page was created to make a comic book, and the physical board still carries evidence of that history.
BATMAN: GOTHAM ADVENTURES
Batman: Gotham Adventures was part of DC Comics\' acclaimed animated Batman publishing lineage and carried forward the distinctive visual aesthetic associated with the Warner Bros. animated DC universe.
One of the things I particularly like about original artwork from these books is how beautifully it translates to a wall.
The animation-influenced style strips away unnecessary visual clutter and leaves incredibly strong silhouettes, expressions and graphic shapes.
And Superman may be the ultimate example.
Cape.
Curl.
Jaw.
\"S.\"
Done.
You know exactly who you\'re looking at.

I also think it\'s worth emphasizing that this isn\'t simply an interior page.
It\'s PAGE ONE.
The opening image of the story.
And visually it functions almost like a Superman splash page.
Instead of a conventional page divided into a collection of smaller panels, the overwhelming majority of the board is devoted to one enormous image of Superman.
That\'s a big part of why I\'ve kept this piece in my collection.
I\'m currently going through my personal collection and moving a few things along so I can make room for new pieces.
Unfortunately I\'ve discovered one of the great tragedies of collecting:
Walls don\'t reproduce.
Something has to go.
