This 1950s New Old Stock lot of 12 cans of black Shinola Wax 7-Day Shoe Polish and and point of sale store display handler is a great vintage collectible for any Shinola, MCM, can, pop culture, memorabilia, merchandising or advertising collector.
This lot came from the estate of a former Shinola sales rep in Peoria Illinois. I have a couple of other Shinola promotional items from the same sale and will be listing those too.
Look closely at the photos. The display box is in very nice condition - a few minor splits on the pasteboard lid flap, a few wax stains and typical age toning. The perforations for the display slot have not been ripped open. Don’t expect polish that’s at least 65 years old to be in great condition. The few I opened and checked out had that great shoeshine aroma but have deteriorated to varying degrees.
Eleven of the dozen cans are the identical product. The twelfth differs only by the lack of the 33¢ pricing and 7-Day slogan.
Five of the cans are in fine condition. Five of the cans (including the one lacking the 33¢ pricetag) have some minor degree of corrosion on the on the metal opener key but the keys work as intended and are otherwise in fine condition. Two of the cans have surface rust on the bottom but the lids are fine. All the lids and cans are the same size. Please note the group photos.
