For your consideration is a vintage Grasso terracotta pottery figurine. This figurine is of a fisherman sitting down repairing his net. He has something in his hand to repair the net. Lots of detail.
From my research, the Grasso family lived in Catania and the art started with Paolo Grasso in 1876 and has been passed down from generation to generation. From Paolo to Giuseppe and Randazzo in 1916 to Giovanni in 1925 and then to Anna in 1957 and Giarre in 1999. The older pieces are smoother looking. Each piece is handmade and stamped. This piece is 5.5 inches tall, and 2 1/2" wide.
Please see the photos for condition. This Figurines right elbow looks like his rolled shirt may have a chip off of it This is one of the most remarkable pieces of sculpture pottery I have seen with all the details. Very impressive.
