The Boeing 727-200 is the stretched version of the 727-100. The \'200 is 20 feet longer that the \'100. The first 727-200 flew on July 27th, 1967. The first delivery was to Northeast Airlines. As the aircraft evolved, a series of higher gross weights and more powerful engines were introduced along with other improvements. These 727-200\'s were dubbed \"Adv\" or advanced. The first \"advanced\" version was delivered in mid-1972. A total of 935 were produced.
United Airlines is a major airline in the United States, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The airline was founded on 06 April 1926 as Varney Airlines out of Boise, Idaho. United is one of the largest airlines in the United states, with over 1,000 aircraft in service to 383 destinations in 48 countries.
In United\'s historic fleet, they had 230 of the Boeing 727 series with 104 of those the 727-200 model. The 727 provided service with United from 1963 to 2001.
This United Boeing 727-222 with registration number N7269U, had its maiden flight on 06 July 1978. It was delivered to United on 20 July 1978. It flew under United colors until 2001 when it was taken out of service, stored and eventually scrapped in 2006 (how very sad).
