Estate find. The small metal sign measures 4” x 2”. The metal does NOT attract a magnet. Anderson Never Sag Gate, Pat.Feb.15.1916, Dwiggins Wire Fence Co., Anderson, Ind.
Overall evident wear. I am listing the small metal sign as found in as-is condition.
There’s ugly darkening and discoloration. I’m not certain of the exact cause of any given example of discoloration. I only know that it exists. The front has kind of a brownish red discoloration (discrepancies in color). I think the front has loss of paint, plating, or some type of surface that is exposing a metal that has oxidized. The front right edge has some green corrosion crud.
The back has a dullish white discoloration throughout. Very dirty and oxidized. And there’s what I believe to be rust staining from the tag being attached to a rusty fence.
The sign is noticeably bent up, misshapen with waviness. The top edge has some jagged or sharp bends. The corner holes have expected evidence of once being attached to something. The left edge has a 1/8” crackle. The item is prominently worn and dulled. It has all the wear that you’d expect with a small metal sign of this nature that has been removed from an old gate.
