Soviet Wedding Ceremony Official BIG Breast Badge
Thisis a GUARANTEED ORIGINAL item made and used during the Soviet period – NOT areplicaor souvenir!
Thebadge is in anodized aluminum, enamels and lacquer; measures approx. 39 mm inwidth. It is actually quite well-made for a late-period Soviet badge. Featuresred Hammer and Sickle emblem on gold background. The reverse shows a raisedlogo of the factory in the city of Dnepropetrovsk (now known as Dnipro) inSoviet Ukraine which manufactured these badges during the Soviet era.
Thebadge is in SUPERB CONDITION. It shows no wear to enamel or tarnish to the goldfinish. The pin attachment is fully functional.
Afterthe Communists largely eradicated the active role of church in society - muchlike it happened during the Great French Revolution over two hundred yearsprior - the state assumed the responsibility for conducting weddings in theSoviet Union. There eventually was a desire to recapture at least some of the\"pomp and circumstance\" of weddings previously held in Orthodoxchurches. All the officials conducting the wedding ceremony were thereforeissued a special badge (the “Chief Priest” i.e. ZAGS Registrar would also wearthe big chain of office).
Thisinteresting item from the Soviet era will display nicely and can be a greatconversation piece!
