Spanish 1715 Treasure Fleet Shipwreck Silver Parker 75 Pen Set w/ Box & COA
Released in 1965, the Parker 75 Spanish 1715 Treasure Fleet Shipwreck fountain pen was the first limited edition collectible pen created by the Parker company of Janesville, Wisconsin. This special pen is crafted in .925 sterling silver made from silver coins recovered by Kip Wagner and the Real Eight Company that salvaged the 1715 Fleet wreck sites off the east coast of Florida in the 1960s. The band on the fountain pen reads \"STERLING SILVER - SPANISH TREASURE FLEET - 1715\" -- in addition to the Parker logo and \"Made in U.S.A.\" The 14k gold nibs on the ends bear the Mexico City mintmark oM and the Mexican eagle.
This special pen was sold in limited number sin a special wooden display box which features a map of the fleet\'s disastrous voyage on the outside along with a cross-section of the ship on the inside showing where gold, silver, and jewels were stored aboard each ship. The pen resides in a green velvet display pouch and is accompanied with a Parker certificate of authenticity, a Parker pen pamphlet, and - most importantly - a certificate showing the signature of Kip Wagner attesting the the silver\'s origins to the 1715 Fleet along with a brief history of the fleet\'s loss and its salvage.
Also included with the set is a Parker 75 sterling silver mechanical pencil (note - the pencil is made with other silver and is not made with shipwreck silver). It appears whoever purchased this special boxed set in 1965 also ordered a mechanical pencil at the same time.
This boxed set is in great condition with only light wear to the outer box. The fountain pen has seen some use and the nibs on either ends are worn down (see photos).
