3499-2024) Stringtown Lanceolate or Dagger made ofheavily spring or river patinated Harrodsburg crinoid fossil chert withbeautiful orange brown white and black mottling. This G10+ specimen measures at6 1/8” x 1 ¼” x 7/16” and has bifacial collateral pressure flaking resulting ina median ridge on the dorsal face with a touch of a ridge on the ventral faceon the stem up halfway in the blade. The tip is in excellent condition and thestem is square and moderately edge ground resulting in weak shouldering. Wasreportedly found on private property located in Saint Louis County, Missouri exFloyd Ritter, Dan Peeler Collections. This is a no brainer ancient authentic artifactinvestment museum quality. Was likely hafted in a bone knife and either servedas a personal defensive thrusting dagger or was a status piece worn by themaker. For me in all of my 45+ years collecting it is the best example of the typeI have seen.

PS Am considering having Dwain Rogers certify and opine on typology. Consensus among some of my closest collecting friends is that this is a Stringtown Lanceolate. Dan thought this was a Kramer, however this relic has such strong median ridges and is edge ground on the stem with weak shoulders that it looks and feels like early archaic technology to me.
