This tamahagane was produced using tatara, a traditional Japanese steelmaking method in which iron sand and charcoal are smelted in a clay furnace over three days and nights.
The result is a high-purity steel with over 99% iron content.

Each tatara run yields about 2.5 tons of raw steel (called kera), but only around 100 kilograms of the most refined portion is selected as “Grade 1A” tamahagane—highly pure and suitable for swordsmithing.
This piece is part of that rare and valuable Grade 1A tamahagane.
Please note that there is no official certificate to verify this grade.

Tamahagane is highly sensitive to oxidation from moisture, oils, or direct contact.
To preserve its condition, store it in a dry environment, and avoid handling it with bare hands.
We recommend using gloves or wrapping it in paper when handling.
