Here we have a great replica of the Titulus Crucis Fragment. This is a replication of the surviving fragment from the (supposedly original) plaque that hung over the cross of Jesus Christ. This piece is on display at the church of Santa Croce in Rome.
This replica measures 9.5" by 5.5" by 0.75".
This was originally made by our other company Artifactory back in 2012. We resumed production of this piece with SD Studios, but it has now been discontinued, so I only have a few left and we will not be making any more.
How we made it:
We used all of the available reference information to create a 3D sculpture in Zbrush. So this is very accurate.
The master pattern was created by 3D printing to 1/2 micron resolution on a $500,000 printer. A master pattern was created from that print, and was molded in RTV silicone to make each replica.
Each replica was cast in extremely strong, Smooth-On 302 resin. (You could throw this across the room and it would just bounce; but I don't recommend doing that...)Each piece is completely primered and finished in 6 different enamel colors. The back is flat and is unpainted and unfinished.
Sold as is. No returns.
