Tuscan Fine English Bone China teacup and saucer set, made in England by R.H. & S.L. Plant, Longton, Staffordshire. Pattern number C6559 hand-painted in gold on the saucer foot.
The design is a single oversized blossom rendered in soft powder blue with deep pink petal tips, gray shading lines, and a ring of yellow and orange stamens at the center. It fills the saucer edge to edge and wraps the body of the cup, so the flower reads as one continuous painting across both pieces. The surrounding ground is a fine taupe pebble print, a detail Tuscan used to frame its large floral patterns.
Footed cup with a scroll handle and gilt highlights, gold banding at the rim, the handle, and the pedestal foot. Both pieces carry a scalloped, gently wavy edge finished in gold.
Both pieces backstamped in green with the Tuscan winged crown, Fine English Bone China, Made in England. The green mark places it in the mid-century production period.
Saucer measures approximately 5 1/2 inches in diameter. Cup measures approximately 3 1/4 inches across the rim and 2 3/4 inches tall. The set weighs 8.5 oz.
Thin, translucent bone china body with a bright glaze. A strong candidate for a collector of English florals, a tea table setting, or a display cabinet where the saucer can be stood on a plate easel and shown as the painting it is.
