UNIQUE Lt. Gen. Leonard D. Heaton Stein Pre- Surgeon General Of The Army For Sale

This is a very unique personal stein made for Lt. General Leonard D Heaton during his time at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. What is neat is that the dates on the bottom reflect his time before he became the Surgeon General of the Army in 1959. Heaton was noted to be an excellent surgeon and operated on notable figures including President Dwight D. Eisenhower. To emphasize the history of this stein, there are two manufacturer marks on the bottom. Willi Geck was a German Distributor that routinely handled custom commissions for the army. Schmidt/Koblenz/Bogenstr 103 is the marker of Hugo Schmidt proclaim workshop. Since this is a rare stein, the price is a bit higher. And to be transparent, where the lid meets the handle is loose. In my opinion, not gravely loose, but loose nonetheless. In addition, the lid is also worn and warped slightly in areas. Lastly, it does have a few cracks forming under base. But, with all that said, a very neat slice of history!!
