Original vintage U.S. M1 steel helmet shell with rear seam, swivel bales and surviving web chinstrap.
Helmet shows substantial age and field/storage wear. Original green/olive paint remains visible both inside and outside, with extensive surface rust, oxidation, pitting, scratches and paint loss throughout.
Features include:
* Rear-seam M1 steel shell
* Swivel chinstrap bales
* Khaki/tan web chinstrap
* Marked metal chinstrap hardware — marking appears to resemble intertwined “AB” letters
* Faint/partially obscured interior heat/lot marking; at least the numeral “1” appears visible
* Original green/olive paint remnants
* No liner included
The rear-seam/swivel-bale configuration is consistent with late-WWII and postwar M1 production, but I have not been able to conclusively date the shell, so it is being sold as an original vintage M1 helmet rather than specifically represented as WWII manufacture.
Helmet has not been cleaned, repainted or restored. The aged finish, rust and patina have been left as found.
