Up for sale today is this US Forest Service White Mountain National Forest STOP sign. Made to the exact standards as used in the 1920s and 1930s by the US Forest Service to warn of terrifyingly bad weather in the Mount Washington area of New Hampshire. For the longest time, a 1934 wind reading of 231 miles per hour at the top of Mount Washington stood as the world record.
An original of these is very rare to find scrapped. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without paying an arm and a leg on the collector's market.
Printed on heavy steel with great gloss to replicate the old-school porcelain look, this sign is made to the highest standards of quality. It has been rescaled from the original 28 by 14 inches, down to 28 by 14 inches for more wieldy display. It weighs 10 lb. 0 oz.
This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
