USS Benjamin Franklin SSBN 640 US Navy Wooden Plaque - LT Stephen F. Hall. This plaque was presented to honor service aboard the lead ship of her class, the ballistic missile submarine USS Benjamin Franklin (SSBN-640). The highly detailed cast-metal emblem finished in striking black and gold. The central crest prominently features the iconic submarine dolphins, a key/lightning bolt motif - bring a reference to Ben Franklin, and the ship’s hull classification symbol, all securely mounted to a premium, shield-shaped solid wood backing. Beneath the emblem is the original engraved brass plate, inscribed: “Presented to LT Stephen F. Hall Oct 87-Nov 90” Hall, now USN-Ret., served as Junior Officer on the Benjamin Franklin, and went on to serve aboard the USS Sunfish (SSN 649), and later with CCDF-12.
