Locality: Kipawa Alkaline Complex, Villedieu Township, Témiscamingue RCM, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Québec, Canada
Dimensions: Approx. 4\" x 5\" x 6\" x 6\" (Large Cabinet Size)
Weight: 3 lbs, 2.1 oz (1,420 grams)Description:
Up for sale is an exceptional, heavyweight \"Large Cabinet\" multi-mineral specimen from the iconic and highly restricted Kipawa Alkaline Complex in Quebec, Canada. This is a classic, old-stock \"Kipawa Rainbow\" piece that showcases a remarkable suite of rare zirconium-bearing silicates and highly reactive fluorescent minerals tightly interlocked within a dramatic, blocky Arfvedsonite matrix.
Under daylight, this piece displays superb visual aesthetics and deep color zoning:
• Eudialyte: Vibrant patches of rich, granular, raspberry-pink to carmine-red eudialyte.
• Exotic Zirconium Pocket: A massive, highly fractured, glassy honey-brown/amber-colored zone of un-altered Hiortdahlite / Vlasovite. This large, continuous amber patch is remarkably sized for the locality and highly distinctive.
• Agrellite: Pearly white-to-gray fibrous masses framing the rare silicates.Spectacular Fluorescent Profile:
When placed under filtered Shortwave / Midwave UV light, this specimen completely transforms into a striking multi-color light show:
• The Agrellite ignites into a blindingly bright, highly saturated neon lavender/violet-blue fluorescence that rivals the intensity of benitoite.
• The Hiortdahlite / Vlasovite zone responds with a rich, diagnostic mustard-yellow/golden glow.
• Uranyl-Activated Splotches throughout the matrix fire off piercing, bright chartreuse neon-green highlights.
• Albite/Feldspar backgrounds exhibit an icy, pale blue response.Collector\'s Note:
The Kipawa Complex is world-renowned for its bizarre alkaline chemistry, but active field collecting has been heavily restricted due to regional land claims and industrial mineral protections. Cohesive, multi-pound display specimens showing this high concentration of contrasting fluorescent and rare daylight species are incredibly difficult to obtain today. This is an ideal, investment-grade centerpiece for any systematic Canadian collection or fluorescent mineral cabinet.
