Mid Century piece. One of the many beautiful items my Uncle brought home when he was stationed overseas.A hand-carved Rapa Nui Moai wooden figure from Easter Island measuring approximately 14 1/2 inches tall represents the traditional Polynesian art of carving deified ancestors. While monumental Moai were carved from volcanic stone on Easter Island between 1100 and 1650 CE, smaller wooden figures and household sculptures were also created by Rapa Nui families to honor lineage and ancestral memory.
