In daylight, this Franklin specimen shows a pale grayish matrix laced with dark franklinite grains scattered throughout the surface — an unassuming exterior that gives no hint of the fluorescent display waiting under UV.

Under shortwave, the piece transforms dramatically: vivid electric green willemite branches and veins wind across a broad field of midnight blue-purple hardystonite, while dark franklinite grains remain non-fluorescent and add textural contrast against the glowing mineralization. The willemite-hardystonite interplay covers most of the exposed surface in a bold two-color display anchored by the classic Franklin dark franklinite accents. Under longwave, the willemite continues to respond with a softer green while the hardystonite response is much more subdued.
