Beautiful original 1949 Schlitz Beer advertising sign manufactured by Hammer Brothers of Chicago and New York.
The sign features the classic Schlitz script logo along with:
“The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous”
and
“On Tap – In Bottles”
The reverse is clearly marked “Form 15-49”, dating the piece to 1949, and retains the original Hammer Brothers manufacturer label.
This compact back-bar/counter sign measures approximately 10.5\" long and has a great layered design with the raised Schlitz panel, clear lower advertising section, and folding metal easel stand.
Condition
Overall, this example is in excellent vintage condition.
There is some tarnishing and finish wear to the frame surrounding the raised Schlitz logo, along with other light age-related wear.
The main advertising graphics remain very attractive and display extremely well.
One of the springs on the reverse is a replacement, as shown in the photos. The stand remains functional and the replacement does not affect the way the sign displays.
The metal easel mechanism and backing show normal light wear consistent with age.
