Museum-quality cast of Sts 5 "Mrs. Ples" — the famous Australopithecus africanus skull discovered by Robert Broom in 1947 at Sterkfontein, Transvaal, South Africa, and one of the most complete australopith skulls ever found (~2.5 million years old). Comes with its descriptive collection label and wire display stand, vintage teaching-collection style. Includes an articulated mandible with dentition; note the original Sts 5 fossil was found without a lower jaw or teeth, so the mandible here is a scientific reconstruction. Warm ochre finish with excellent fossil texture. A cornerstone specimen of human origins for the anthropology shelf — or the most erudite skull at your Halloween party.
