Vintage Vaughan Value Brand double bit axe head made in the USA. Full-size double bit pattern with a “VAUGHAN / VALUE BRAND” stamp on the head.
Vaughan & Bushnell was a long-established American tool manufacturer, and Vaughan catalogs from the mid-20th century document production of double bit axes. This example appears consistent with mid-20th century production, approximately 1940s-1960s.
The head has a broad 9 7/8” overall length with approximately 4 1/2” cutting edges on both sides. A short section of the old wooden handle remains in the eye, which may be useful as a reference when fitting and hanging a replacement handle.

CONDITION
Vintage used condition with surface wear, oxidation, pitting, scratches, and other signs of age and use. The Vaughan Value Brand marking is worn but still visible. Both cutting edges show age/use wear.
