Up for sale is a remarkably well-preserved vintage original copy of the Rules for the Government of the Operating Department book issued by The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Company. This historical volume also covers the Central New England Railway Company and The New York Connecting Railroad Company, with rules officially taking effect on January 1, 1925.
This pocket-sized manual is an incredible piece of early 20th-century railroadiana. The interior features fascinating reference sections, including highly detailed illustrated diagrams on pages 24 and 25 showcasing trainman hand, flag, and lantern signals for switching, stopping, and emergency maneuvers.

Condition Details:The book is in excellent, clean vintage condition. The original brown cloth-bound cover is structurally sound with minor shelf wear and light age-toning along the outer edges, but remains very stiff with legible front text. The interior pages are exceptionally clean, tight to the spine, and entirely free of employee name inscriptions, heavy thumb stains, or loose pages. The unissued employee identification ledger on the inside cover remains completely blank.
