Vintage 1950s 15 Unused Mechanical Pop Up Greeting Cards Boxed Barrel of Fun

Vintage circa 1953 boxed group of 15 unused mechanical, pop-up and novelty greeting cards with the original colorful “A Barrel of Fun” box.

These are not ordinary flat greeting cards. Each card has some type of mechanical, dimensional, pop-up, pull-out, extending or novelty paper feature that changes or comes to life when the card is opened.

The 15 cards include:

• A birthday cake that opens into a dimensional pop-up display
• A doorway scene with a panel that opens or extends outward
• A humorous character card with a large circular mechanical element
• A bright yellow bird with a dimensional pop-up figure
• A small animal character that projects outward from the center of the card
• A wheel or compass-style mechanical design
• An elephant with a dimensional body that projects outward
• A barrel-themed dimensional scene
• A long vertical character design that extends dramatically when opened
• A large fruit/apple design with dimensional cutout sections
• A monkey/tree design with an extending character or branch feature
• A floral card with a large dimensional or extending center section
• A doorway/window-style card with a dimensional interior scene
• An outdoor scene with a dimensional pop-up character and landscape
• A humorous novelty card with an extending mechanical figure

The group includes birthday, get well, anniversary, missing you and other humorous occasion cards, all with colorful early-1950s artwork, cartoon animals, children and wonderfully odd novelty characters.

There are 15 different unused cards included, and each card has its own original envelope.

The bottom of the original box has old handwritten notations that clearly include “1953” notation, providing a great period dating clue and supporting the early-1950s age of the group.

The original box does not state how many cards were included when new, so I am not representing this as a complete original boxed set. The 15 cards shown in the photos are the exact cards included in this listing.

All 15 cards are unused and retain their original mechanical and dimensional features. The envelopes show expected age-related toning and discoloration. The original box shows age, spotting and storage wear as shown.
