* Insert Production Year: May 1987 (Replacement insert marked E III)
* Emblem: Solid brass U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, N.Y.) crest
Condition Report:
* Mechanical: Tested and sparks cleanly. The flint wheel turned easily and has strong tension.
* Cosmetic: Shows authentic, honest vintage character and pocket wear. There are superficial surface scratches and pocket scuffs on the chrome case. The brass emblem is securely attached; the gold paint fill in the lettering has naturally weathered and worn away over the decades, giving it a great historical patina. No major dents or structural damage. Hinge has typical light vintage play but closes firmly.
Collector Note:
The case dates perfectly to 1967, featuring the final year of the legacy 1950s patent stamp before it was retired. The insert is a genuine Zippo factory replacement from 1987. A wonderful, functional piece of maritime history for any Kings Point alumnus or military Zippo collector!
