Description:Historical & Iconographic Context:This is an authentic vintage statue of the Goddess Parvati, the supreme divine mother and consort of Lord Shiva.Dating to approximately the 1970s-1980s, this piece represents the classical South Indian style of metalwork.The Goddess is depicted in a graceful standing posture, holding a small bird (parrot) on her left arm, which symbolizes her harmony with nature and divine love. Her right hand is held in the Abhaya Mudra (the gesture of protection and fearlessness).She wears a high crown and detailed traditional jewelry.
Craftsmanship:A solid and heavy casting with fine hand-etched detailing on the ornaments and garments. The brass has aged beautifully, developing a rich, authentic golden patina with natural oxidation over the decades.
