The Story Behind the Piece: Following the creation of his domino-playing gnome friend "Fats," Dr. Clark created Chubby to celebrate the game of checkers. Perched confidently atop a pile of red and black game pieces, coins, and scattered woodland acorns, Chubby has played such a great game that he has crowned himself "King"—though he has a bit of trouble keeping his messy crown balanced on his head! Like all classic Tom Clark pieces, this figurine features incredible, lifelike textures—from his intricately carved beard to the layered forest leaves forming the base. The artist's signature, date, and "Chubby" title are clearly molded into the front of the piece.
