Vintage Audition 906 Americana Spice Chest AM Radio Cabinet Works Japan
Vintage Audition Model 906 “Americana Spice Chest” AM transistor radio cabinet, made in Japan. A unique and hard-to-find mid-century novelty radio featuring opening louvered doors, two storage drawers, a colorful horse-and-buggy Americana scene, and decorative eagle crest.
The radio powers on and receives stations. I was able to tune in a station while testing inside a metal shop where reception is typically poor. Volume and tuning controls function; however, the volume control produces crackling/static while being adjusted and would likely benefit from cleaning or servicing. Once set, the radio plays normally.
This radio operates on four D-cell batteries (included for testing only, not included with sale). Please note that the battery compartment cover is very tight and requires significant pressure to fully snap into place. I was able to engage one side but did not have enough hand strength to completely secure both sides of the cover. The cover is present and functional but may require additional force to fully latch.
Overall condition is very good for its age. The horse-and-buggy graphics remain vibrant and display beautifully. Cabinet shows normal age-related wear, including minor scratches and finish wear consistent with decades of use. The left door louvers are somewhat loose and appear to be missing a small retaining piece, but they remain in place and display well. Please review all photos carefully.
