Authentic vintage French woven tapestry depicting a traditional Nativity, Holy Family scene, produced by Bianchini-Férier and marked “Bianchini-Férier – Made in France.” Bianchini-Férier is well known for its high-quality jacquard and tapestry textiles, and this piece is a fine example of their mid-20th-century religious work.
The tapestry is loom-woven (not needlepoint or embroidery) and features rich colors with metallic gold threads throughout, creating depth and luminosity. The scene includes Mary, Joseph, the infant Jesus, and animals, rendered in a stylized architectural setting typical of French religious decorative art of the period.
Tapestry/textile: Very good vintage condition overall. Colors remain vibrant with no visible fading or thread breaks.
Please note: along the mid-left area, the weave appears slightly looser than the surrounding areas. The threads remain intact, with no holes, fraying, or damage observed; this appears to be a localized looseness rather than structural failure and does not affect the overall image or stability.
Frame: Original gilt wood frame with visible age-appropriate wear, including small chips and areas of gilt loss at edges and corners.
Back: Original paper backing shows age-related wear and old staining. Staining is confined to the backing and does not affect the tapestry front. Original twisted hanging wire present.
