This is a matched pair of vintage porcelain and solid brass mounted urn vases from the highly coveted luxury home decor house, Castilian Imports. Fully authenticated on the base as Item #3131 R-3, these heavy (approximately 9 lbs each), exquisite chalice-style vases bring a commanding presence to traditional, Hollywood Regency, or maximalist spaces.
The Pattern: The substantial bodies are crafted from premium high-fired porcelain, enveloped in a breathtaking, continuous champlevé-style enamel overlay. The design features rich, ruby-red poppy blossoms blooming along trailing sage-green botanical stems, all set against an exquisitely textured cream-and-honey mosaic background. Vibrant ruby red poppies, sprawling green botanical stems, and scrolling leaves dance across a heavily textured, honey-cream patterned mosaic background.
The Metalwork: Each vase is beautifully framed with heavy, solid cast brass hardware. This includes elegant, sweeping scroll handles at the rim, a decorative fluted collar connector, and a pierced, rococo-style baroque clawfoot plinth base that gives the pair a stately, antique weight.
Stunning when styled symmetrically on a fireplace mantel, an upscale entryway console table, or showcased as dining room centerpieces.These pieces are in very good vintage condition. The porcelain enamel work is brilliant and continuous, The solid brass mounts show a gorgeous, natural aged patina that highlights the deep, relief detailing of the casting. Maker marks/item codes are present on the undersides of the feet. Both vases are structurally excellent, heavy, and display beautifully. One urn shows a very minor, light surface scratch on the porcelain enamel finish, typical of authentic vintage items, (documented in photo #13). It is superficial, does not detract from the grand visual impact of the pair, and can easily be turned toward the wall if desired. In picture #14 there is a bit of scarring on the inside rim which simply adds to its vintage charm, but wanted to point it out. These are an excellent find.
