This vintage hand-wrought copper candleholder was made by German-American coppersmith Erhard Glander, founder ofGlander Ornamental Iron Works in Wisconsin.
Dating to approximately the 1930s–1940s, it isa particularly attractive example of Glander's Arts & Crafts metalwork. Thechamberstick is individually formed from copper with a hammered surface, broadcut and scrolled handle, flared thumb rest and scalloped socket sized for astandard taper candle.
The underside bears Glander's distinctivehand-over-circled-G maker's mark together with HAND WROUGHT.
Erhard Glander trained as a coppersmith inGermany before immigrating to the United States in the 1920s. He establishedhis metalworking shop in West Allis, Wisconsin, in 1932 and later moved thebusiness to Saukville. The shop became known for handcrafted copper and brassdecorative objects.
Measures approximately 5 1/2" long, 31/2" wide and 2 1/2" high.
Excellent vintage condition with lightevidence of age and use. The copper has a beautiful warm gleam. Please seephotographs for the condition and hand-worked character of the piece.
