Authentic Vintage Ethiopian Harari Muday Coiled Basket with Conical Lid & Leather Accents
A striking example of traditional East African fiber art, this vintage footed storage basket (traditionally known as a Muday) was hand-coiled by Harari artisans in Ethiopia. Featuring tightly wrapped natural grass and dyed fibers in rich earthen tones of terracotta red, golden yellow, forest green, and plum purple woven into classic stepped geometric patterns.
Finished with traditional hand-stitched leather around the bowl rim and base, topped with a matching conical lid featuring a leather-wrapped apex cap. Retains an estate tag attributing it as mid-20th-century vintage African tribal storage. A gorgeous statement piece for collectors of ethnographic textiles, African folk art, or boho/organic modern decor.
