It is completely free of the typical ink spills, oil stains, burns, or heavy fraying often found in older machinist boxes.
Woodwork:
The dark wood exterior is structurally rock-solid with tight joints, no warping, and no deep cracks.

This box is a highly skilled custom/kit assembly using authentic
Gerstner-style components. Of note, the two front draw-bolt latches were uniquely installed upside down during its original creation (flipping up to secure rather than down).
They remain 100% fully functional and tight, adding a wonderful bit of unique historical character to the piece!
