Vintage U.S. Marine Corps officer’s Mameluke ceremonial sword distributed by Hilborn-Hamburger Inc., New York, with the blade marked Germany.
The blade features traditional United States Marines and decorative etched panels. The maker’s mark is located on the ricasso directly above the guard, with a six-point “PROVED” mark on the opposite side. The blade spine is marked “USMC SERIAL NO. 323”; this is an acceptance or specification marking found on this sword pattern rather than a unique personal serial number. The sword has ivory-colored synthetic grip panels—not genuine ivory—and includes its polished metal scabbard and black sword knot.
