Manufactured by the historic Hirsch-Weis Canvas Products Co. of Portland, Oregon (the famous Pacific Northwest gear outfitter that later transitioned into the iconic White Stag outdoor clothing brand), this piece is a classic slice of early American road trip history.Popular from the 1920s through the 1950s, these \"desert water bags\" were designed to be filled with water and hung from the bumper, hood ornament, or side mirror of a car. Airflow caused trace amounts of water to seep through the linen and evaporate, naturally chilling the drinking water inside or providing emergency coolant for an overheating radiator.This excellent display piece features the highly collectible, multi-colored \"Red Apple\" logo graphic with vibrant text.Graphics: Front-facing stenciled graphics remain exceptionally bright, clear, and perfectly legible with wonderful retro color contrast.Hardware & Spout: Complete with its original wooden core/cork spout plug firmly attached by its vintage security twine string!
