Formed from natural clay, this smooth-feeling bowl has a warm, reddish-brown interior. The exterior is hand-painted with bold black and cream geometric patterns. A perfect example of the pottery craftsmanship of the Hopi mesas in Arizona. Signed I.Shupla.Irene Shupla was an active potter from the early 1930s to 1980. The largest collection of her work is in the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. This piece was purchased in 1972.The bowl is approximately 2.5” high with an approximate diameter of 4.5”.
