Vintage pre-owned condition. The yarn artwork remains bright and visually striking. The wooden frame has age-related marks, scratches, and finish wear. The unfinished plywood backing shows discoloration, marks, and a faint handwritten inscription. Please review all photos.
Description:
Large vintage Mexican Huichol/Wixárika-style yarn painting featuring a vivid ceremonial composition with human and animal figures, plants, arrows, birds, and symbolic geometric imagery.
The design was created by carefully arranging brightly colored yarn over a prepared wooden surface. Colors include yellow, black, red, blue, pink, purple, green, and orange. Displayed in its original-looking multitone wooden frame with an attached hanging wire.
The back contains a very faint handwritten Spanish inscription and an artist’s signature. Because portions have faded into the wood grain and are crossed by the hanging wire, only fragments can be read confidently.
Spanish inscription—partially legible:
“… al viento al galope”
“Cada … se remonta a brillar”
“… para …”
“Este cuadro …”
Approximate English translation of the readable portions:
“… galloping with the wind”
“Each … rises again to shine”
“… for …”
“This painting …”
The remaining handwriting and signature are too faint to transcribe accurately. Original inscription is shown in the photographs for the buyer to examine.
Approximate measurements:
- Outer frame: 25 × 25 inches
- Artwork: approximately 23 × 23 inches
- Depth: approximately 1 inch
