Beautiful vintage hand-carved and hand-painted Northern Parula bird sculpture/decoy, attributed to Joel Zani.
This charming American folk-art bird features the distinctive coloring of a Northern Parula, with a lavender-blue/gray body, bright yellow throat and breast, rusty orange/chestnut breast band, dark facial accents and contrasting wing markings.
The craftsmanship is especially appealing, with individually carved and layered wing feathers, a carved tail, hand-painted details, and dimensional metal/wire legs and feet. The bird is mounted on a wonderfully rustic natural wood base.
The underside of the base bears a distinctive artist signature/monogram and is marked “#32.” Based on the style and markings, the piece is being offered as Joel Zani attributed; attribution has not been independently authenticated.
