Beautiful vintage Katzhütte porcelain mare and foal figurine from Thuringia, Germany, featuring a grazing mare beside her foal.The horses are beautifully modeled in rich glossy brown tones with cream-colored markings, dark manes and hooves, and a naturalistic green base. The sculpting and graduated glaze give the piece wonderful depth and detail from every angle.The underside bears the Katzhütte factory mark. Katzhütte, with roots in the historic Hertwig & Co. porcelain works, was well known for its finely modeled animal figurines. The factory ceased production in 1990, so these original German-made figurines are no longer being produced and are now available only through the vintage and secondary market.Condition: Very good vintage condition with beautiful glossy color and finish. Age-related crazing is visible on portions of the base, consistent with a vintage ceramic piece.
