Striking vintage Kuna Mola textile from Panama featuring a whimsical stylized cat in wonderfully bold colors.
Hand-sewn in the traditional Mola style, the design combines appliqué and decorative embroidery on a deep burgundy ground. Bright yellow, blue, green, orange, pink and purple accents create the distinctive graphic quality associated with Kuna (Guna) textile folk art.
The Mola is displayed in an older black frame under glass with a simple hanging loop. The reverse retains its older paper/cardboard backing and small retaining nails.
Approximate Framed Size: 10.5" wide × 8.5" high
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related wear. Some loose/pulled stitching and minor textile irregularities are present, including in the upper-right area. The textile has not been removed from the frame. Please review photos carefully for condition and details.
