Beautiful vintage Northwest Coast Native American lidded basket, possibly Makah or Nuu-chah-nulth (Nootka), featuring intricate handwoven construction and a fitted lid.The basket has a distinctive slightly faceted/hexagonal form, with natural tan and golden fibers accented by faded pink/salmon bands. The lid features an attractive concentric spiral-style design with a natural center surrounded by pink/salmon woven fibers. The underside shows the detailed woven/twined construction.This is a small trinket or keepsake basket, suitable for display or collecting. Museum collections document very similar small Makah/Nuu-chah-nulth lidded baskets made with cedar bark, bear grass/grass fibers and dyed decorative fibers.Condition: Vintage/antique condition with expected age-related fading and wear.
