Vintage Moriyama Mori-Machi Made in Japan sculptural shell-form ceramic serving/decorative bowl.
Beautiful early Japanese export piece featuring an ivory/cream glossy glaze, deeply molded seashell detailing, scalloped rim and an unusual curled nautilus-style end. The dimensional shell pattern continues around the exterior and gives the piece a very attractive coastal or nautical look.
The underside is marked with the Moriyama floral-basket backstamp and “MADE IN JAPAN.” Moriyama Pottery was produced in Mori-Machi, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan and is known for decorative Japanese export ceramics dating to the early-to-mid 20th century.

Preowned vintage condition. No obvious cracks or major chips observed. There are small areas of age-related discoloration/spotting visible in portions of the molded exterior decoration and some normal age-related marks to the underside.
