Such a unique and pretty piece! It is an ormolu metal basket with applied enamel type trim around the top of it with French detailing of bows and urns but the best part is the central green glass intaglio of Cupid with his little love hears floating above and Psyche blowing bubbles on him! I've never seen another one quite like it. I don't know the age, it may be antique or just old vintage; I'm not sure. There is a tiny stamp inside the top bow but it's so small I cannot make it out even under magnification.
A beautiful and interesting piece, I don't know the original purpose of it except it's so fancy, sweet and pretty. I was thinking a little towel could be put at the bottom of it and then potpourri, or it could be used for little bath soaps. I guess it could be used for just about anything to be put in the basket, but as seen there are a few little holes at the bottom. This is how I bought it at least 20 years ago.
There is some minimal wear as excepted from most old items but please look at all the photos; it's vintage and not new and must have been used at some time for some purpose. I believe it could be Czech but who knows? I think it would be quite a bit more expensive if there were not a few little holes in the middle but I could not find another one like it to know its true value.
