Original pre-WWII Palmer-Smith aluminum double-compartment desk organizer featuring the company’s distinctive applied twisted rope motif.
The interior is clearly stamped with the Palmer-Smith maker’s mark depicting figures working at an anvil. Palmer-Smith operated in Grove City, Pennsylvania during the late 1930s and ceased production of its aluminum giftware in 1941. The rope motif is documented among known Palmer-Smith designs.
Likely intended as a desk letter, mail, stationery or document holder. Two separate compartments provide storage while the clean geometric form and applied rope decoration give the piece a strong Art Deco/Machine Age appearance.
