Stunning vintage pierced porcelain hexagonal bowl with hand-painted gold floral panels and a gold-trimmed rim. The six sides each feature intricate openwork lacework and a gilt rose bouquet, with a graceful curved handle arching over the top.
The pierced design lets light pass through the walls of the bowl, giving it a delicate, almost lace-like quality, while the bright white porcelain background sets off the gold detailing beautifully. The form is reminiscent of classic European and Asian export porcelain pieces of the mid-twentieth century, though the bottom is unmarked and the maker is not known.
A beautiful centerpiece for an entry table, dining table, or sideboard. It works equally well empty as a sculptural object or filled with seasonal items — pinecones, holiday ornaments, faux fruit, or a small floral arrangement. The handle makes it easy to move from room to room.
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks, or repairs noted. The gilt and porcelain present beautifully. Please see photos for additional details.
