For sale is this fine antique German prisoner of war hand carved walking stick or cane. The deep-carved inscription translated from the German reads: \"Souvenir of German prisoners. Menin 1919.\" Menin, (or Menen) is a small town near Ypres in Belgium. The carved head of the prisoner with his cap is primitive, but expressive. Truly an interesting item of militaria from World War I. The walking stick is about 36 inches long and weighs about 261 grams. Condition is good with no breaks or repairs. A drilled hole in the back of the prisoner\'s head might have been for a hook. Otherwise minor wear and tear from handling over time.
