This item is a highly collectible, vintage Resl Lenz glass ornament, handcrafted in Germany. The specific figure inside is a gold foil star with a red center bead encased in a hand-blown glass sphere with a "spinner" mechanism.
Measures approximately 3.5” x 3.25” .
History of the Piece:
The Resl Lenz company was founded in Dorfen, Bavaria, in 1958 by Theresia Grundner Lenz. The very first ornament, an angel, was created after she had the idea to place handcrafted foil figures inside clear glass balls. These unique, nostalgic ornaments debuted at the 1959 Frankfurt Trade Fair and gained international fame, attracting major buyers like Macy's and Harrods. The family business continues to operate today, with the daughter taking over operations from Resl and Anton.
West Germany" tag dates to before German reunification making it an older vintage piece. These ornaments are cherished for their artisanal quality, with each foil figure individually cut, folded, and stamped by hand.
Vintage condition with some minute bends to the metal . I have several smaller and a bell shape available from a recent estate sale - some have the original paper tags and some do not .
