Vintage Signal Mountain Hotel Chattanooga Tennessee Advertising Brochure
This is a stunning, oversized fold-out advertising brochure for the historic Signal Mountain Hotel in Signal Mountain, Tennessee. Overlooking Chattanooga at an elevation of 2,000 feet, this brochure captures the hotel during its mid-century prime, marketing it as a destination "Above the Clouds."
Opened in 1913 by Charles E. James, the hotel was a marvel of its era, designed to be a premier health and leisure resort. It was famous for its "All Steel Electric Car" line, which allowed guests to bypass the arduous mountain climb by rail. During the time this brochure was printed, the hotel was the social epicenter of the region, hosting elaborate galas in its "Modernistic Dining Room" and attracting golfers to its championship 18-hole course. The building still stands today, having been converted into the Alexian Village retirement community, making this original prospectus a vital record of its life as a grand Southern resort.
